Taking Your Photos…

I love commissions whether land, sea or cityscapes, subjects can vary from a lighthouse, a beach, a church, a building, a tower whatever, they all present their own challenges!  Commissions are great from a project perspective as I get to really focus on one subject and the surrounding area enabling me to take my time and make the very best of the subject.

My process is essentially simple, after checking out the subject online, working out parking arrangements, understanding where the sun comes up and goes down, what the best angles might be etc…   I then visit the location to understand the best views, any foreground interest, the opportunity for light in relation to the sun, whether the image may be better in black and white or colour, if the picture would be better taken at night, the list goes on.  In reality I may well go back several times until I can get the conditions best suited to the subject. Sometimes sunset or sunrise is beautiful alternatively a moody grey cloudy sky maybe preferrable, the idea really is to capture a number of different scenes, angles and in varying weather conditions.

I take commissions of subjects generally within a 50-mile radius of Swindon, Wiltshire, this is not a strict rule, but if the subject is too far away it becomes logistically more challenging to visit several times. The deliverables of a commission are generally a number of digital images with two printed images of your choice sized at A3 or A4 and presented in a stud (cardboard) frame, of course more prints are available at an additional cost.  All images are edited to make the very best of the subject

My prices for commissions are generally in the region of one hundred pounds per subject, this price does vary a little depending on location, in any case we would agree a fixed price before I started. A recent commission was of Garsdon Church pictured, the customer had a real association with the church and wanted an image to remember it by…

If you would like to commission me to photograph a particular subject then please send me your details through the ‘contact me’ page and I’ll be in touch.
